Abstract
Sound recording of interview with Sue Ko Lee conducted by Judy Yung. Sue Ko Lee was a participant in the 1938 National Dollar Stores garment worker strike. This strike was the first labor organizing in San Francisco's Chinatown, eventually breaking the colorline that had kept Chinese workers from jobs outside Chinatown. Lee later became the first Chinese American business agent in the garment worker union.

Scrapbook belonging to Sue Ko Lee, a button hole machine operator at the National Dollar Store garment factory in San Francisco's Chinatown, and member of the Chinese Ladies' Garment Workers' Union (CLGWU), Local 341. Scrapbook contains newspaper clippings, bulletins and photographs pertaining to the CLGWU, mostly concerning the strike at the National Dollar Store/Golden Gate Manufacturing in 1938. This recording is part of an oral history project documenting the historic 2004 hotel strike and lock-out in San Francisco that lasted 53 days.
